According to the Public Relations Department of the Pishgaman Union, a joint meeting was held between the Governor of Yazd Province, the CEO of the Chabahar Free Zone Organization, and several board members of the Pars Water Supply Cooperative — including representatives from the Pishgaman Cooperative Union, Electro Kavir Industrial Group, Setareh Kavir Yazd Group, and Shahdab Yazd Industrial and Mining Group.
The meeting aimed to outline the existing capacities and foster synergy for the development of the Makran coastal region, in line with the directives of the Supreme Leader and the provisions of Iran’s Seventh Development Plan.
In the session, Mohammad Reza Babaei, Governor of Yazd Province, highlighted Yazd’s leadership in tile and ceramic production, greenhouse agriculture, and the development of solar power plants in recent years. He also announced the province’s readiness to facilitate private sector investment in the Chabahar region.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of developing the Makran coast for establishing industrial, agricultural, and production units, Babaei stated:
“According to the Seventh Development Plan and the directives of the Supreme Leader, positioning the economic capacities of provinces in coastal regions — particularly Chabahar — is now a national priority, and Yazd will take the lead in this initiative.”
The Governor further stressed the need to form a joint task force comprising private sector representatives and provincial executive managers to visit Chabahar and assess potential investment opportunities in the area.
In this context, the Pars Central Plateau Water Supply Cooperative, located in the Makran region, was highlighted as a key partner in realizing this national program.
Babaei also announced public sector support to accelerate private investments in Chabahar, adding that studies on road transportation, agricultural development, and the establishment of a joint Yazd–Chabahar Secretariat to follow up on Makran coastal development projects are underway.
The proposals and capacities presented by Yazd’s economic stakeholders — particularly in the infrastructure, industrial, and agricultural sectors — were acknowledged by Chabahar Free Zone officials as powerful drivers that can accelerate the development of the Makran coast.
