Mohammadreza Babaei, the Governor of Yazd, in a joint meeting with the Minister of Roads and Urban Development and the CEO of the Railways of Iran, expressed appreciation for the actions taken and presented a set of strategic requests aimed at transforming the rail transport infrastructure of Yazd Province.
Thanking the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and the Railways Company for their efforts, he referred to the special and strategic position of Yazd in the country’s railway network and stated:
“The Yazd railway region has long played a key role in Iran’s rail network and has always been among the leading regions.”
The Governor of Yazd highlighted the important role of Pishgaman Dry Port in supporting exports and sustainable development.
He added that since late last year, with the support of the Railways Company, significant steps have been taken to expand freight and export transportation.
Babaei continued: “Today, in addition to the transportation of traditional and mineral cargoes, we are witnessing the beginning of a new movement in the rail transport of the province’s export products.”
The Governor of Yazd also called for the completion of the Yazd–Eghlid railway, noting that this project—vital for connecting the country’s north–south and east–west rail corridors—requires the allocation of funds and acceleration of construction to be fully integrated into the sustainable transport network.
Pishgaman Dry Port, as the first cooperative dry port in the country, has become one of the most important logistics hubs in central Iran thanks to its strategic geographic location and direct access to the national railway network.
Equipped with modern customs facilities and direct rail connections for loading and unloading, the complex plays an effective role in facilitating export processes and improving the efficiency of the logistics and transportation chain.
