Jabbar Ali Zakari, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and CEO of RAI, toured key sections of the dry port, including the cold storage facility, customs area, and a 50,000-ton silo.
Zohouri, CEO of the Pishgaman Dry Port Cooperative, elaborated on the port’s infrastructure, highlighting its strategic mechanized silos and warehouses for livestock and food supplies. He stated, “The dry port features eight metal silos and two mechanized warehouses with a total capacity of 50,000 tons. These silos are equipped with automated wagon and truck unloading systems capable of handling 200 tons per hour, supported by PLC technology for fully mechanized operations.”
Zohouri added that the port offers significant discounts on warehousing and operational services to attract traders, merchants, and import-dependent industries.
During his visit, Zakari praised the port’s infrastructure and emphasized plans to redirect 25% of maritime port cargo volume to three existing dry ports nationwide, with a fourth under consideration. This follows the recent incident at Shahid Rajaei Port.
Zakari noted, “Pishgaman’s silos have substantial capacity. The Ministry of Agriculture and Railways is committed to shifting livestock input transportation to rail. Last week, a tripartite agreement was signed to ensure most livestock-related cargo is transported by rail, with a portion allocated to domestic ports like Pishgaman.”
He urged provincial officials to prioritize rail transport for cargo to the dry port’s silos and to facilitate the transfer of 25% of maritime port freight to Pishgaman.
The Deputy Governor of Yazd for Developmental Affairs, accompanying Zakari, remarked, “Pishgaman Dry Port has established critical infrastructure in the heart of the country. We expect continued ministerial support for this project.”
The Director-General of Yazd Railways described Pishgaman as a “milestone” in advancing transportation, exports, imports, and transit. He also announced plans to obtain a “logistics village license” for the port, underscoring its potential to become a regional logistics and transport hub.
“Securing this permit will enhance the port’s role in the provincial supply chain and highlight its capacity to emerge as a key logistics center,” he added.
