Deputy Minister of Agriculture Emphasizes the Role of Pishgaman Dry Port in Iran's Pistachio Exports

According to the Public Relations Office of the Pishgaman Cooperative Union, Mohammad Mehdi Boroumandi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Horticulture Affairs, along with a delegation of experts from the Ministry, visited the Pishgaman Dry Port in Yazd to assess its capacities for developing agricultural exports — particularly pistachio.

During the visit, Naser Zahouri, CEO of Pishgaman Dry Port, outlined the various sections of the complex and the infrastructure under development aimed at facilitating exports. In a meeting held on the sidelines of the visit, Mohammad Hadi Eslami, Deputy for Investment at the Pishgaman Cooperative Union, introduced the “Investor–Shareholding Model” adopted by Pishgaman and highlighted its role in advancing the group’s major projects.

Mr. Boroumandi described Pishgaman Dry Port as a prestigious and exemplary model for export-oriented provinces, stating:

“Pistachio is one of Iran’s strategic and high-value export products, generating over USD 1.7 billion in foreign exchange earnings last year. With the completion of its infrastructure, Pishgaman Dry Port can become a central hub for the direct export of Yazd’s pistachios.”

He further noted that Yazd is the third-largest pistachio-producing province in Iran and added:

“We are coordinating with the Food and Drug Administration and the Customs Administration to establish standard sorting and packaging facilities within this dry port, enabling direct exports from Yazd.”

The Deputy Minister described Pishgaman Dry Port as a gateway for agricultural exports in eastern and southeastern Iran and emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the expansion of this strategic export terminal.
