Yazd Logistics Village Development Project to Be Implemented at Pishgaman Dry Port

The Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) and Pishgaman Yazd Logistics Village signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the development of rail transportation, aiming to increase the share of rail freight transport in the country and expand logistics infrastructure.

This MoU was concluded within the framework of the resolutions of the National Logistics Centers Headquarters, in the presence of Dr. Jabbarali Zakeri, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways; Dr. Mohammadreza Rezaeinejad, CEO of the Pishgaman Specialized Union for Infrastructure Affairs; and Dr. Naser Zahouri, CEO of Pishgaman Dry Port.

Key objectives of this MoU include the implementation of rail transport development policies, facilitation of private-sector investment, increasing the share of freight transportation by rail, reducing fuel consumption and air pollution, lowering road accidents, and strengthening the country’s transit position.

According to the provisions of this MoU, the development of Yazd Logistics Village will begin on the lands of Pishgaman Kavir Dry Port, covering an area of approximately 200 hectares. The expansion of railway lines and related infrastructure, issuance of required permits for operation and management of logistics projects, and creating conditions for regular freight transportation via rail are among other key areas of cooperation.

Under this MoU, the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways also committed to planning and supervising the construction of railway infrastructure, pursuing the issuance of required permits, providing necessary arrangements for freight transportation, and utilizing relevant legal capacities.

With rail infrastructure, a customs zone, warehouses, and cold storage facilities, Pishgaman Dry Port has created the capability to provide services related to multimodal transportation, warehousing, and supporting import and export processes.
