Director of the Rural Cooperative Organization of Iran’s province of Yazd announced that fruits for the new Iranian year’s markets at the province have been already stored.
According to the public relations department of Pishgaman cooperative group and a report by the IRIB news, Jahazi said 500 tons of high-quality yellow and red apples have been purchased, packed and stored for distribution in the new year market.
There has been a 300-ton rise in the store of apple compared to the previous year, he added.
Director of the Rural Cooperative Organization of the province also unveiled plans to store 900 tons of orange in the cold storage of Pishgaman’s dry port, including 700 tons of Valencia orange cultivated in southern orchards and 200 tons of Thomson orange from the northern fruit farms.
“With the arrangements made in advance, we will face no shortage of fruits in the province this year,” he underlined.
He further noted that the fruits purchased by his organization will be supplied to the market in late Esfand (the last month of the Iranian calendar) at a price to be set by the market regulation headquarters.
In separate comments, the inside director of Pishgaman dry port said the dry port’s cold storage has a capacity of 15,000 tons for storing fruits, adding that 7,000 tons of apple and 1,000 tons of orange have been stored in the dry port’s cold storage so far.
“The Pishgaman dry port is currently holding the fruits for new year markets of many southern and southeastern provinces. At present, a staff of 300 at the dry port are packing and storing fruits in a series of cold storages of the port,” he added.
